  13. SUBJECT: Equipment for emergency responders - Part 3

  15.    Carry a note book and pencil. Keeping a log or diary of events
  16. is very important. It makes interesting reading after an event
  17. and if you must write a report it is a great help to have the
  18. dates and times of important happenings. If the incident lasts
  19. for many days, as they have in the past, the days seem to run
  20. together and to recall from memory might prove difficult. If you
  21. must handle written messages, use a different notebook for this
  22. chore. I carry a small three inch by five inch personal notebook
  23. for the diary and a regular size note book for the written
  24. messages.
  25.    Carry a small flashlight. I use the Mini-Maglite type that use
  26. double A alkaline batteries. These flashlights are very rugged
  27. and have a spare lamp in their base. If the spare lamp is needed
  28. make sure you replace it as soon as possible.
  29.    If you are on medication be sure to have an ample supply.
  30. Carry more than you think you will need.
  31.    Inform the person or persons in charge if you have a health
  32. problem and if you require special medication.
  33.    You may want to carry a camera. I carry a small 35 mm camera.
  34. It has a sliding lens cover that locks the shutter, a built in
  35. electronic flash and another feature that should prove
  36. invaluable: a clock that will stamp the day, month and year or
  37. the time of day on the negative so that it will appear on the
  38. prints.
